Straight Talk About Strengthening Marriage Intimately

Book Review: H. & J. Beal

My husband and I were privileged to review Laura Brotherson's first two chapters of "And They Were Not Ashamed: Strengthening Marriage Through Sexual Fulfillment." In talking with many friends and family members, we have discovered that many of those closest to us struggle with sexual fulfillment. All of these people are LDS and they have grown up with similar uncertainties concerning sex.

Laura effectively discusses many of the root problems of sexual fulfillment in marriage and identifies practical solutions to overcome these frustrations. We love the "HOME" work assignments at the end of each chapter! By only reading these two chapters, we have already had many healthy discussions among our friends and family members in regards to sexual fulfillment in marriage.

We can see the tremendous impact that this book can offer. Laura's motives center around strengthening marriages. She believes that a healthy sex life is key to having a wonderful relationship. No other LDS books are as bold or focus so strongly on the root of sexual frustrations in LDS marriages. At the same time, Laura provides steps to overcome frustrations concerning sex and allows the reader to better understand this gift from God.

This book needs to be in the hands of every LDS couple. It will enable parents to teach a healthy, positive attitude regarding sex. Laura is paving a road that will break the cycle of frustration by educating couples who will then educate the next generation of eternal companions.
